If you are running or want to run Thunderbird as your mail client but also want the ability to view and sync your personal and shared calendars then CalDav and WebDav will allow you to do this. These are new to the Icewarp product and will allow you to sync your Thunderbird mail client with Icewarp. You must have the Lightning plug-in for Thunderbird in order to do this. You can download this here
http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar/lightning/download.html
You must have the CalDav option enabled under Groupware in the Icewarp console for this to be possible.
Once you have Lightning installed and the CalDAv service enabled you can then add a new calendar with the following steps:
Click "Add New Calendar"
Choose "On the network"
Change the format to CalDAV
For the location you will need to use the following format
http://hostname:port/webdav/user@domain.com/Events/
Or, for Tasks, the ending would be /Tasks
For shared calendars you would need to use the same format with the folder name, so: http://hostname:port:webdav/~shared@domain.com/Events
Or, for Tasks the ending would be /Tasks
The name would be how ever the calendar is seen in webmail, so if you have administrator as a friend and are sharing calendars then it would be ~administrator@domain.com.
It will ask you for the login to mail server. You will need to enter your login in order to contact the database to pull down any calendar information. If you login with the full address then make sure you use that and the same goes for the username login, use the exact format as you use to authenticate to the mail server.
Once you have added the calendars and authenticated to the server you will then see events displayed.
From this point forward it will automatically sync with the Groupware database to pull any new events. The sync works in both directions. If you add an entry through Thunderbird it will sync to Webmail.
